Multi-location SEO: what actually matters
When a business has several locations, each one competes in its own local search results. The brand's overall strength helps, but every location still has to earn its place. These are the parts that matter most.

A profile for every real location
Each physical location should have its own verified Google Business Profile with accurate categories, hours, services, photos, and a link to its own location page — not the homepage. Profiles should only exist where there's a real location or presence.
Location pages with substance
A location page should help someone decide to visit that location. That means details that are genuinely specific:
- Address, hours, phone number, and directions.
- The team or providers who work there.
- Services offered at that location, if they differ.
- Parking, access, and nearby landmarks.
- Reviews from customers of that location.
Pages that swap only the city name are treated as low quality by search engines, and they don't help customers either.
Consistency everywhere
Each location's name, address, and phone number should match exactly across its location page, its Google profile, and directories. With several locations, inconsistencies multiply quickly — especially after moves, rebrands, or phone system changes.
Reviews, location by location
Reviews count for the specific location they're left on. A system for asking every customer, at every location, and responding consistently in the brand's voice, beats occasional pushes at one or two locations.
Mistakes to avoid
- Mass-produced city pages for areas without a real presence.
- Pointing every profile at the homepage.
- Letting each location create its own unofficial profiles or pages.
- Changing hours in one place but not the others.
- Ignoring the newest locations while the flagship gets all the attention.
